Making Decisions: Dealing with complexities and implications

Wednesday 23rd June 2021 – 8pm (GMT)

Making decisions in the early stages of donor conception can feel overwhelming, especially knowing that it isn’t just a one-time decision you’re making, it’s one that hopefully will be part of your family story for life.

Angela Pericleous-Smith, chair of BICA, shared with us what implications counselling actually looks like. Far from simply a tick box exercise, it can be used as an opportunity to reflect and explore your options. Answering questions such as understanding the legalities and how these will impact your future, what rights will your donor have and what implications there are to consider when choosing treatment in the UK or overseas.

We also talked about the complexities of emotion and thought that we can experience as we embark on this journey. We explored preparing for some of the moral and ethical complexities of donor conception, what emotions might we be feeling and how we can start to process these.

This is the perfect webinar for those at the start of their journey or exploring donor conception as an option, it will also be useful if you’re further along but still struggling with some of the complexities that donor conception can present.
