In this live chat Hayley welcomed Solo mum-to-be Megan. Megan is a 26-year-old, living in London. After 3 unsuccessful IUI cycles, an IVF egg retrieval cycle and developing severe OHSS, she went on to have a successful embryo transfer, and she is currently 30 weeks pregnant with her first baby.

Although only in her mid 20s, Megan made the decision to go solo because she wanted to become a mum much more than she wanted to find a partner to have a baby with. She had no interest in dating, and she didn’t want to wait any longer to chase her dream of motherhood. Megan has an academic background in Women’s Health and Reproductive Science, so she has known about the option of IVF and donor conception for a while. Throughout her early 20s she always said that if she was still single at the age of 25 she would have a baby on her own using a sperm donor – and that is exactly what she did.

Megan now wants to support other people who are, or are considering becoming, solo mums or parents of donor conceived children as they navigate their own journeys.
