Gerry McCluskey

Working in Private Counselling Practice, Gerry McCluskey has a particular interest in the range of different ways in which families are formed, the issues of belonging, connection, identity, hope, loss, trauma, transition and fulfilment which relate to the pursuit of family life whatever its form. A Fertility Counsellor for over 20 years, she has a specific interest in donor conception, aiming to create a safe and confidential space within which people can reflect on their unique story in their own time.

Qualifying in Social Work in 1983, Gerry has held a variety of practitioner and management posts in Family and Child Care and Family Placement in the statutory and voluntary sectors. While working at Family Routes (2003 – 2022) she continued her role in social work, providing training, statutory adoption services, counselling, and intermediary work for adult adoptees and birth families alongside fertility counselling for NHS and private patients. Her commitment to supporting people forming their families through donor conception led to her organising several conferences, workshops and forums for people involved in the donor conception community personally or professionally.

Qualifications include: MSW, Advanced Diploma in PC Counselling, Relate Certificate in Couple Counselling. Gerry is a registered member of BACP and NCS, accredited with BICA, a member of the BICA’s Training Team and IFCA.
